Mobile [Add To Cart]

I feel like I must be missing something simple. I want to have some products that ar not for sale just to be added as more information on the page. In the normal layout I can remove the Add to cart buttons, unfortunately I still have the add to cart text in the mobile site. What do I need to do to make the mobile site mirror the regular site setting?

PS I tried turning off both the image add to cart and the text add to cart but no joy.

The mobile site uses a different template than the normal store pages. You configure it on Preferences > Mobile. By default the add to cart is displayed for every product. You would need to modify the template to not output the button on products where you don't want it to display. If you are not seeing it on regular pages then that product template has been modified to not display it so you could check the code that is used there and see how it was done and add that to the mobile product template..

Thanks Jim, but I'm not sure I follow you.

I have only made one minor change to the template ( so the combo boxes load vertical rather than horizontal), so there is no change to the template to make the add to cart button not show. I have made that change from within the back office. It would seem to be to be normal that if a user chose not to show the "add to cart" link on the normal site that the mobile site would follow the same parameter. I cannot imagine an instance where I would not want a "add to cart" button on the standard site and would want it to show up on mobile.

Where have you selected to not show the add to cart button in the back office? I find no setting that will allow it to be turned off. There are 2 options where you configure the add to cart , 1 as text 2 as image, no option that says don't display.

There are two ways to accomplish this

1. Choose the image radio button and in the drop down choose none

2. Choose the text radio button and delete the text in the text box

In either circumstance you create a product without an add to cart button.

I don't think that either of those will actually turn the add to cart feature off, it just makes it so you don't seeing the button or text.
But if you are working on a mobile screen then the settings under Products > Edit Product Layout will have no affect anyway since
the mobile screens use the Add to cart setting from Preferences > Mobile config area. That is set to "Add to Cart" by default and will be used for all products displayed on a mobile device.

So if you want to have some products that do not use that text you will need to modify the template and, using some field as a key as to whether to display the add to cart or not , add code to specifically not display the add to cart button.
