Google Product Search Data Feed

Postby alisml123 » Tue Aug 02, 2011 5:06 pm

We have been having problem submitting our products via API to Google Merchant Account. On Shopsite side, the file is generated with no errors, but on Google side no products have been submitted. In Shopsite, the number of successfully submitted product states "Failure". I contacted Google support and their reply stated "Please Note: The Google Base Data API has been retired on June 1, 2011. Therefore, we encourage you to move to the new Content and Search APIs for Shopping as soon as possible."

Please explain what I need to do to move to the new Content and Search APIs for Shopping? Is there an update to this problem?

Thank you
Lisa

Jim, Thank you for the helpful information. I was able to register and submit a Google product feed, but now it seems that none of our Doba products are included in the file generated to Google. I have triple checked the Products>Google Base (include in data feed) and all the Doba prooduct are selected to be included. When the file is generated; there are no errors reported. I have scrolled through the generated file and none of the Doba products are listed. I am truly at a loss! As of now, the feed is only generating about half our products in the feed. Any suggestions?

Thank you

I don't think Google likes having urls for things that aren't on the domain where the store is hosted. Since the images for Doba product come from the Doba server that may be what is causing the problem. You could try downloading an image from a Doba product to your store and then assigning that to the product. Then send a feed with just that product and see if it is accepted. If that works you might have to download all the images to your store and use those instead of the ones from Doba's server. You might also try checking the Google help to see if they mention this as an issue and if there is a possible work around.
