linking order processing with another site

I'm working on a project for a client that would like to modify their shopsite (currently version 10) to send the order and payment data to another website and have it processed and return a success or failure back to shopsite. Is this possible and where would I find point to insert his code?

There is an Order API option in ShopSite Pro where you can write your own program to pass the information somewhere, like to a third party application, after the checkout screen. With the Order API, information can be sent to another software, but it is only after the order has been completed. ShopSite does not have a Payment API, so you cannot write your own program to integrate with a third party payment processing application (I assume this could be a security risk because the open payment processing integration would leave the security of credit card information up to the developer).

I wouldn't need to pass credit card info, only the order info from the shopping cart. The 3rd part website would handle the secure checkout process once they got the items and pass back a success or failure to complete the order or cancel.

I did find the Order API option and since this is after the order is complete, this won't work.

Is the above possible?

No this is not doable in ShopSite because ShopSite does not have a Payment API. For payment processing, the only options are payment gateways that are built into ShopSite. Only those approved payment gateways can provide "accept" or "decline" order messages.
