Linking to external pages not in the Store folder.

I'm wondering if I can create a link from Shopsite pages to other pages outside of the Store folder. Since Shopsite cannot generate a home page that has all the necessary info needed, I have created my own index page outside of the Shopsite store folder. Linking into the store folder is the easy part, linking from the existing Shopsite pages back out to the index page outside of the store folder is proving more difficult. If I could have the index landing page inside of the store folder, this would not be an issue, but my index page needs to be outside of the store folder in order to be found when entering the url of the site. Create a page in ShopSite that will essentially be a dummy page. In the Link Name field add an href that points to your outside page something like
<a href="http://mydomain.com/index.html">Home</a>
Then assign that page to all of your ShopSite pages that you want to link to your main page. When the page shows up in the list of links to other pages it will be a link to your outside page.

I am trying to link from a Shopsite Page to an external URL.
I have tried the a href in the Link Info Name category as suggested here but its not taking me out of shopsite.

For example, I want to link from shopsite to this page: http://pinterest.com/annemh/blue-nautical-kids-decor/
Any suggestions on how to do this would be very much appreciated!!!

Just include the link in the text where you want it to display on your ShopSite page.
<a href="http://whatever.domain.com/pagename.ext">text you want for the link</a>
