USPS International Shipping Error

Within the last couple of days an issue regarding calculating international shipping has arisen. The following message is displayed:

USPS Message: Could not parse the XML from USPS.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shipping costs cannot be computed for some items in your cart. Please contact the merchant.


There are no issues with domestic shipping calculations. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

This is caused by a change that USPS made to the naming convention of international and some domestic shipping option names. This broke any application that interfaced with their apis, not just ShopSite. We are working on a patch to work around this issue and will post a message to the forum when it is available. The patch will only be available for ShopSite 10sp2 r2 so if your store is not running that version of ShopSite you will need to upgrade to version 10sp2 r2 before the patch can be applied.

Thanks Jim,
From what I can figure, we have Shopsite Manager version 10. I do not know how to determine the rest (10sp2 r2). Is this okay?

No, there have been earlier versions of ShopSite 10, but to apply the upcoming patch you will have to have the newest version, 10 sp2 r2, specifically.

Click the 'ShopSite' tab/logo in the upper lefthand corner of any ShopSite backoffice menu and that will take you to the start.cgi main menu, and in the center of the footer at the bottom of this page will be listed the full ShopSite version and storeid, something like 'ShopSite® Pro 10 sp2 r2, StoreID: [your_storeid]'. If that middle part says something other than '10 sp2 r2' then you would need to upgrade to 10 sp2 r2 before you could apply any newly produced patches.

A technical support person at USPS has provided us with a new, yet un-published, Technical Guide. He says this Guide will solve the problems, and that we should forward it to the developer and let the developer know that he can assist with anything needed. This Guide is being critiqued before it is posted on the USPS website for download.

There does not seem to be a way to attach a PDF to a post, if someone from Shopsite would like this doc we will gladly email it to them.

Is Shopsite working on a patch for any ealier versions? I ask this because our service provider EasyCGI has informed us that you are and that it is not their fault that we have not been able to calculate international shipping for a month.

I just need to know if the are just telling me more lies or if a patch for ShopSite® Manager 10 r7.1 is actually being rolled out. This would save me all the hassle of relocating our store to a different host and Shopsite provider.

A special version of a patch for ShopSite 10 r7 was created to fix the USPS shipping issue in early January and provided to the support team of Endurance International, the parent company of EasyPCI, on January 14. (Once upgraded the version displayed in the footer on the start.cgi screen will be 10 r7.4)

You should contact your host ask them to contact the support staff at the parent company to get this patch for your store.
