Unless one uses one of the paid partner sites? Is this correct? Client wants the ability to send monthly emails to clients with specials in the store. We came over from zencart which easily allows that. Nothing like that incorporated in here??

That is correct. The ShopSite software does not provide any mailing list capabilities built into the software. You can add a checkbox on the checkout page for customers to opt-in to a mailing list. You can then download this order information and add the addresses to a separate mailing list application.

Third party services like Constant Contact or Mail Chimp would be options, or a local free install of something like phpList would work as well. If you're using ShopSite Pro, you can create an order API script to auto subscribe customers to a mailing list.

All product levels of ShopSite have the option for the checkbox Rob mentioned. The 3 fields associated with this feature: Create an add to e-mail list box:, Add to e-mail list box checked by default: , and Text displayed for add to e-mail list: are found on Commerce > Order System Checkout. Unless you are processing a lot of orders it shouldn't be hard to download the email addresses and add them to a contact list in your email application and send an email to all of them at once. If you are doing lots of email campaigns then it may pay to use one of the 3rd party apps.
