Lock icon on browser saying :unauthenticated content"

Postby Vernontnh » Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:24 am

Hi:

I received this note from my client the other day:
"...Also, noted that the lock icon on my website says there is unauthenticated content"

Just wondering what this could be. Is it likely a graphic on a shopping cart page that is linked with an "http...." rather than https...." route?

Could it be anything else?

Thanks in advance.

It would have to be something that is being referenced by an http:// instead of https:// . If you have Firefox browser open the page, right click in a blank area and select View Page Info. Then click on the Media icon and a list of all media on the page will be displayed. If the page is suppose to be secure there should be no file referenced that has just http://. There could be images, (.png, .jpg, .gif etc) javascript includes, favicon, css files etc.

I was just informed that Firefox 3 now only displays the url for images and not for css or javascript so I guess you'll have to manually search the html source of your page for those type of files which may be referenced by http instead of https.

Thanks, Jim.

That's still a pretty easy fix.
