Is global shipping automatically seen?

Postby Peter Gregg » Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:42 am

I have gotten 2 inquiries this morning from Australia (I am in the USA) that they cannot order product because the shopping cart is not showing country options.

Mine does, both in Firefox and with IE. Do I have a setting wrong, can you see a country choice in my cart besides the USA?

www.abetterbouncecard.com - select a product from the A Better Bounce Card Products section and click Add to Cart button.

Except for 1, it should come i at $44.00 and when the cart comes up I see a zip code box and a country pull down box, they claim they do not. Since I have been testing and setting up I am wondering if I really see it in my art and others don't? I have cleaned out the cache in my browser.

Peter,

They are probably referring to the list of States on the checkout page, as this dropdown only has US based states. What you can do is in the backoffice, go to:
Commerce Setup -> State and Country

and you can type in the state dropdown box to add an option at the top such as:
N/A;NA
or:
None;NA
or:
Other;NA

so your international customers can choose an appropriate State option. I checked your cart in both IE7 and Firefox and saw the country list without an issue.

Thanks, I just added that. I have other questions on shipping, I will start a new topic for indexing purposes.

There are no countries being displayed on the Checkout screen. Go to Commerce Setup > Order System > Checkout and make sure that you have the Country box checked for both the Billing and Shipping addresses.

You are right, they were not checked and maybe why these people emailed me. I just did it, thanks.

When it is a country other than the USA, can I cause it to automatically choose the Global shipping radio button?

There is no built in way to do that. If you are proficient in javascript you could probably add some javascript on the shopping cart screen to check if the country was not US and not allow them to checkout unless they select the Global option
