What's the explanation behind this error:

Approval: DECLINED
Response Code:
Error: SGS-000001: D: DecinedYYYM:
AuthResponse: X07
Message: DECLINED

I understand that YYYM is shorthand for Yes, Yes, Yes, Match which means the customer has inputted everything correctly on their end. The customer has verified that their zip, card number and expiration date are correct.

Our gateway is FirstData if that helps at all.
I should also mention that I have done a number of test transactions with my own Visa card and have had no problems placing orders.

Those messages are coming directly from your payment gateway, so you should contact them with that information and see what the problem with the particular order is.
