Move shopsite from one server to another.

Post by adamsandco »

I am moving shopsite from one server over to a hostgator server. I have successfully move the database and files but I am still getting errors that I can't connect to the database. I have changed site_config_inc.php to the right database logins. Do I need to change any other files?

Instructions on moving a store can be found in the help at:
http://shopsite.com/help/10.1/en-US/ins ... intro.html

Basically you should install a new store on the new server (using your same authorization file) and then copy the data from the old store to the new store.

If you don't do it that way you will end up with broken symlinks and probably incorrect permissions on files and directories.

moving a shopsite installation

How would you perform a new installation on the new host if you have an older version of the Shopsite software?

If you do not want to upgrade to a newer version of ShopSite you just use the older version install. If your new host is a ShopSite partner they should be able to do that for you. If they are not a partner you would need to contact the ShopSite sales department for access information to the install files. You can use the form on http://shopsite.com/ready-3.html to contact sales.

Note if you are moving from one partner to another or from a partner to a non-partner host you will need to get a new authorization file. If you were at a partner sited and had a monthly leased license and are moving to a non-partner site you will probably need to purchase a paidup one time license since monthly license are only allowed through partners.
