editing modern.css to increase navigation tab size

Postby johnbiggscr » Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:48 pm

I am having an issue with the modern template layout. It seems a title for one of the navigation bar tabs is too long so it wraps to the line underneath and I want it to just expand the tab to accomodate the text.
I have found the modern.css file and the spot that I can change to fix that issue but I cannot figure out how to modify/save that file, or how to force the template to use an alternative css file. I need this fix to work on all my pages so a global css is the way for me to go.
I am using manager by the way.

Go to Merchandising > Custom Templates > Includes
Click on the Copy ShopSite Include button
Select the include file that you need to change and click Copy
Give the file a new name very similar to the one it has but it can't be the same.
Save
Now select the file you copied and Use the Copy button to make another copy with the same name as the ShopSite version of the file
Edit the file and make your changes and save the file.
Publish your store (Utilities > Publish > Regenerate) and it will use your version of the file instead of the ShopSite file.

Well that suggestion certainly looked promising but did not seem to actually work. It said regenerated but still seems to be using the original and not my modified css file.

Have you shut your browsers all down and then started them up and gone to the site again? Browsers cache css pages so it may have been in cache and not got your new file.
