Click "Empty Cart" and receive "Page Not Foun

Postby JohnUSA » Tue Dec 08, 2009 6:45 pm

Situation:
Using shopsite 10, single or multiple items in the cart matters not, at the customer level, occurs on both a linux platform with Firefox, and a Windows platform with IE8, when the customer clicks on the "empty cart" button they are immediately dumped out of the shopping cart to:

Page not found
The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Please try the following:
If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

- Click the Back button in your browser to try another link.
- Use a search engine like Google to look for information on the Internet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTTP 404 - File not found

If ShopSite cannot determine the last page you were on (i.e. your security software/firewall blocks referrer info) (it worked fine for me on your site) then it sends the browser to the "My Store" URL under:
Preferences -> Hosting Service

If your web host restricts access to this page, you'll have to ask your host to update the "My Store" URL to a valid page in your site.

Solution

Thanks for your reply. In digging further, I found the problem: under "commerce setup, order system, shopping cart", there is a setting, "Return to this URL:" where it turns out the problem lie. This page in the URL had changed (as a result of an unrelated alteration in the website some weeks earlier...it just figures -- the page being called had been deleted), and when this line was updated with a page URL which actually existed, the "Empty Cart" button returned the shopper to the site properly. The clue was found in the URL line when the error message appeared...the site was calling a page that no longer existed.
