Shopsite Version 10 and Dedicated SSL

Postby TedRevis » Mon Jul 20, 2009 11:05 am

I was operating on Shopsite Version 10 until last week. I purchased a dedicated SSL for my site. After the SSL was added and Shopsite migrated itself to my website, Shopsite was downgraded from Version 10 to Version 8.3.
The hosting company is insisting that Shopsite Version 10 will not operate with a dedicated SSL. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
Thanks,
Ted

I am not sure why they would tell you that, because that is not the case. ShopSite v10 works just fine with dedicated SSL certificates. The issue is likely that your host just isn't configured to install the v10 version yet on individual sites. But there is nothing inherent in ShopSite v10 itself that would prevent this.

Note that ShopSite doesn't "migrate itself", it would have to be installed on your site and then the data from your old shared-cgi store moved over to the new store, so this is either something that your host does manually or they have an automated system set up to do this.

Also note that there is not a 'downgrade' function for ShopSite data files, so I would not be surprised if your new ShopSite v8.3 had some issues working properly with the v10 data. If you experience any issues on the new v8.3 store, then this is probably the culprit, and an 'upgrade' back to v10 should resolve it.
