Custom product templates

Postby natez311 » Sat Nov 07, 2009 1:45 pm

How do custom product templates work? I am trying to create 2 types.

1.) A small thumbnail template for listed products that appear after a search.
2.) An individual page dedicated to showing more information about the product (which I see available fields for when adding a product).

Are there any examples anywhere of this being done? It would help greatly as I'm just getting to know this stuff. Thanks in advance!
Thanks!

Nate,

For search results, you'll need a custom search product template. Reference:

If you use resized images with thumbnails, you can make the product images default to the thumbnail version under:
Preferences -> Search Settings -> Search Layout -> "Use Resized Product Images:"

For a moreinfo custom template, this is part of the product template. Reference:

Thanks Rob!

I am getting the hang of this now. Now in the product section you can define the image for the [-- Product --] page and also the image for the [-- Product More Info --] page. For the [-- Product --] page I set the image to be resized for the thumbnail image. The [-- Product More Info --] page image was set to the original size since it is going to be much larger when a user is looking closer into the product.

Currently I am using the tag [-- PRODUCT.Graphic --] on the [-- Product More Info --] page and I am getting the thumbnail sized image instead of it's original size (which I specified in the product's settings). Is there something I am missing?
Thanks!

use [-- PRODUCT.MoreInformationGraphic --] for the larger image.
