Order options - best practice for many and changing options?

Post by geeek »

Our store offers hundreds of products consisting of various widths and colors of ribbon. The color options are extensive, and it is impossible to keep all products up to date as adding a new color requires manual editing of each product's order option lists. What does Shopsite recommend? Is it possible to define a list centrally in a file and "include" it in the order options field of each product, so we can update a central list once and regenerate the store to apply it everywhere?

ShopSite has worked well for us. I hoped to find out if there is a better way to maintain our order options, or that I should add a vote for this feature to the enhancement request queue.

Thank you.

If your ordering options are the same for every product (or a lot of your products) then you should get familiar with the PowerEdit function. If you have ShopSite Pro, this feature has a 'global' option that will allow you to select multiple products, make you changes in one edit field, then have this change apply to all of the products you had selected. Even if you just have ShopSite Manager, the PowerEdit field will at least allow you to edit just the selected field for each of the selected products all on the same screen without having to go to the Edit Product Info screen for each product individually.
