auto populate billing zipcode and country with ship info

suggestion... auto populate billing zip and country with shipping info from 1st shopping cart screen (similar to how the shipping zip and country are auto populated).

rationale:
1) if the customers shipping and billing addresses are the same and the customer clicks the check mark to indicate that...the shipping info is greyed out and the billing information is not populated with the shipping zip and country. The system then thinks the shipping zipcode has been changed and even if the customer puts in the correct billing zipcode to match the ship code, they will get the error msg "your shipping zipcode has changed. please return to the last page of your shopping cart". They then have to go back a screen, recalculate, then return to the cart. For some customers, this cycle can repeat many times because they don't understand that by wiping out the shipping information, they are in fact changing the zipcode.

2) if the ship and bill addresses are different, most likely the country is the same for both and sometimes the zipcode is the same. Therefore, defaulting the billing zip and country to the shipping information, may save the customer some clicks to proceed through the checkout process.

having this enhancement will alleviate some customer confusion/frustration and reduce the number of error msgs generated.

can this be scheduled for the next release? or maybe this behavior is already available if I modify my back office settings??

This is already how it works in ShopSite 10 the first time a shopper goes from the shopping cart screen to the checkout screen.

Give it a shot, delete all your cookies and add an item to the cart as if you were a new shopper, fill in the zip code field and choose a country on the initial screen, then proceed to the checkout screen. The country and zip from the initial cart screen will be the zip and country pre-populated for both the shipping and billing addresses.

One thing that would probably help you out in this scenario right now, since it looks like you have a lot of non-shippable products (eBooks) and you probably have quite a few orders that only contain these types of products, is to check the 'Shipping Address not displayed if there is no shipping service' checkbox in Commerce Setup -> Order System -> Checkout. This should eliminate the separate shipping address block entirely for shoppers not purchasing any shippable products, which should eliminate this address confusion for at least those shoppers.

oh, ok. I deleted my cookies and the system auto populated the billing zip and country fields as well. Nice.

also, thanks for the other tip. I wasn't aware of that capability and it is a definite improvement.
