Is there any way to make shopsite display the product options sequentially?

For example,

size:

with drop down box of S,M,L

then Color:

with drop down box of red, blue, white

Currently when I do this it is:

Size color

with two drop down boxes below

Enter the descriptive text in a more generic format such as Choose your size and color.
then enter the options like this
Size;n
s
m
l

Color;n
red
blue
green

So the input box will now have Size and Color as the top items but they won't be selectable by the shopper when they go to checkout. (They can put it in the cart without making a selection but they can't checkout without making a selection.
