gift certs not working

Hello, a valid gift cert created by shopsite cart with number and pin cannot be applied to the cart area of shop. There is a box in the checkout cart which says "coupon/certificate" but there is no box for the pin. When the gift cert number is put in the box marked coupon.....a message says invalid coupon.

any advice please? Maybe i have not ticked a box somewhere to allow gift certs???

Did you create your own shopping cart template? If so you must include the tag for the gift certificate [-- SC_GiftCert --] so the form fields to input the certificate will be in the shopping cart.

You also need to enable the gift certificates feature under Merchandising > Gift Certificate > Configure.

Hi, ive clicked enable gift certs in configure. But i dont know what the shopping cart template is...even though i might have created one, since i did all the work. So ive not used this tag [-- SC_GiftCert --] and dont have a clue where to use it.

any more help please....

A link to your store so we can see what template is being used would be helpful.

Are you sure you have the gift certificate feature enabled under Merchandising > Gift Certificate > Configure by having the "On" radio button selected?

The store is using the default template which includes the tags to display the gift certificate fields so the only reason I can think of that the fields aren't showing is that the option is not enabled. I installed the same version on a test store and the fields do display in the cart.

Another possibility is that your host modified the default shopping cart template and did not include the tags for the gift certificate. You could go to Merchandising > Custom Templates and make a copy of the ShopSite template called sc_default and add the tag [-- SC_GiftCert --] to the template if they did not include it. YOu may also want to add other tags related to the gift certificate so the messages you configured in the back office will be displayed. You can find the other tags in the online help.

Also note that ShopSite 7.1.4 which you are using is quite old (2004) so you may want to upgrade to the latest version 10.r7.2. You can see the new features added since the 7.1 release at:
