Shopsite server change help updating order anywhere

Postby hiamps » Tue Jul 28, 2009 10:59 am

I recently had my shopsite changed from windows platform and they made me a new account. Can I just change the store ID # in each script or should I redo every button? They are all shopsite 10....

If your store pages are generated by ShopSite and you don't have any manually-coded order or view cart buttons that you have added, then you can just regenerate all of the store pages from the Utilities -> Publish menu and all of the shopping cart links should be updated with the right stuff.

The only links that you should need to worry about manually updating be those that you manually placed either in your own pages created outside of ShopSite, or in a text field (such as a Page's Text 1, or the Page Header and Footer fields) in ShopSite.

These are order anywhere buttons on a html page. Is there a part of each I can change or should I make new buttons for my entire website? Have hundreds....

Unless you had to re-enter the products in your ShopSite backoffice, you would probably only need to update the 'storeid' value with one from your 'new' store. Try it on a few and see if it works.

Changing the store ID seems to work. Strange though, when I bring up the order anywhere HTML and hit refresh the store ID seems to change and looking at other buttons the store ID is different for any Item I didn't do at the same time. How does shopsite know what store to goto? The address's and everything else looks the same and it works. Just curious.

The encrypted version of your storeid will appear different each time it is generated by ShopSite. But any encrypted version of that same storeid will map back to your regular storeid, so you can use any one of them to replace your old storeid values.

UPDATE, ended up having to replace all order anywhere buttons as the Product ID seemed to have randomly changed on some products. Some wax products would add wick or something else to the shopping cart.

If you think you are ever going to have to delete and re-add products and you are using OrderAnywhere, then you should make sure that all your products have unique SKUs, and enable the OrderAnywhere by SKU option. This way the order button for the product will be based on that product's SKU instead of the internal ShopSite record number for the product. As long as your products have the same SKU when you re-add them, if the existing OrderAnywhere buttons were created by SKU, then they would just work with the re-added products.
