Shipping & Tax missing from order

Postby dortchjm » Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:30 pm

I just received an order a few minutes ago that has the tax and shipping missing. I have not made any changes in at least a week. I tried to recreate the order, but couldn't duplicate the missing shipping/tax. I'm using SS v10. Any thoughts?

What patch level is your ShopSite 10? Make sure that you have the latest version, r7, as some bugs were fix in that version dealing with missing shipping.

How do I find out what version of Shopsite 10 I'm using? How do I apply a patch?

When you are logged in to the backoffice of your store click on the ShopSite tab at the top and in the footer between the logos will be some text that contains the version number.

Your host should install the patches for you if you are with a ShopSite partner. Other wise you will need to ftp the patchs to the appropriate cgi directory for your store.

Thanks for that, Jim. I checked and I am on 10 r7.

But I'm having an issue where an Ohio zipcode is input as the address for an order. Since we're based in Ohio it should add tax automatically, yet it's not adding the tax.

Are your products marked as taxable on the Edit Product Info screen?
What tax method are you using? If tax by zip do you have Ohio checked to use the tax and a percent entered for it?

Also the latest version is 10 r7.2 so you are still needing to upgrade.

Will the .2 batch update correct this?

10 r7 should have the fix in for the issue that was described in the patch release notes in the link in the prior post.

Does the tax by zip field for Ohio have the zip code that you are trying to match? It will be a couple of numbers and question marks which should represent other numbers.

Do you have the state and country fields set to be pulldowns or text fields?

States and Countries are pull-downs. And, yes, the zip code I'm working with is included as 43???

I would upgrade to the latest version and try it again. If that doesn't fix it then contact your host or purchase a support incident to have ShopSite support look into it. http://shopsite.com/support_pricing.html

Problem solved

Postby Swine » Thu Aug 13, 2009 10:10 am

Okay, this is one part I'm-such-an-idiot and one part, why-is-this-designed-this-way?

Once you hit the Use Zip Code To Configure Tax button it takes you to a new window where you find a separate box for every US state, each Canadian province, as well as Guam and a few other places. Each has a click box in front of it, with a listing of zip codes. Being in Ohio, we have that state selected for tax inclusion. We also have each of the Canadian provinces selected. So, you'd think we were set to charge tax in these areas based on the purchaser's zip code. At least that's what I thought.

I thought wrong. At the top of the page there is also a selection box for Apply Tax To Selected Countries. It was selected, of course. But, next to it is another Configure button. Once I clicked on that I realized that the United States and Canada needed to also be separately selected in this window, not once, under Use, but twice, also under Zip Code Tax.

So there you go. Problem solved. Thanks for the support, Jim.
