Custom Text Entry Field in Conjunction with ordering options

Postby boomrollkick » Wed Aug 05, 2009 9:00 am

On this page of the template cookbook it shows how to create custom text entry fields using "Finopt".

http://shopsite.com/templates/cookbook/ ... ided.shtml

However there is a note above the example which reads as follows.

Note: this form does not work with product ordering options. The form would need to be adjusted if the product has ordering option pull down menus setup.

I was hoping to find an include somewhere that generated the ordering options drop downs however I didn't find anything through the shopsite interface.

Does any have any advice as to how I can make this happen without building an order anywhere form?

Did you check the box to display the order options on the store pages? It is found on the Edit Product layout screen. You also need to defined the options on the Edit Product Info screen. The template you are using also needs to use this feature (all ShopSite provided ones do).

Custom Text Field

Postby boomrollkick » Wed Aug 05, 2009 5:20 pm

Indeed I've had the proper settings for ordering options working all along. The only issue is that I want to drop a custom text field in along side of with the ordering options. I'm starting to think I may need to add javascript in to check what the finopt value is set to and then increment by one and then insert a custom text entry field.

Similar to what this person is doing in the example below, however I want it to work within the template.

You should be able to view the page source and see what they are doing. Then just use ShopSite Tags to fill in the various fields. Note that all of there options are specified within the finopt and not within the order options that would normally be used. They may have included these in custom text fields or maybe all their product have similar information so they just coded it in the template. YOu might be able to find contact info on the site that you could use to contact the merchant and find out how they did it or if they had a developer do it for them.
