FedEx Shipping calcualtes by item instead of weight

Hello All - total ShopSite Newbie here - so I apologize if this item has been covered in another thread, but I could not find anything on my searches.

I have a ShopeSIte store front set up and its working great - love the application, but I am experiencing one problem with calculating fedex shipping charges. It appears that it calculates per item rather than weight.

I have an Item that weighs .25 lbs - when I select quantity 1 the shipping is accurate using our fedex account. It comes out to $7.59 to ship from Colorado to New York.

If I update the quantity in the cart to 2 items, making a total weight of .5 lbs the shipping doubles to $15.18, 3 items $22.77 and so on.

My shipping configuration:
ShopSite Shipping Rate Calculations: NONE
Shipping Carriers: FedEx only
Shipping box is 1" x 8" x 11"

My FedEx config:
Ground Shipping: FedEx Home Delivery (which is the numbers quoted above)
Max Weight set to 5lbs
Min Weight is set to 0.1 lbs

My products all have weights ranging from .2 lbs to .8 lbs

Is there something im missing? Do I need to change something that is incorrect?

I am using shopsite ShopSite® Manager 10 r7.1

If you specify a box size for a product then it is assumed that that package must be sent as an individual package. So if you have two items in the cart it will be shipped as 2 individual packages, thus the double rate. If you don't specify a package size then items will be added to a single package until they meet the maximum package size you have specified.

but i have no box size specified - the feild is blank.

My choices in the fedex config are:
Unit of Measure: Inches (i have 2 radio buttons Inches/Centemeters)

Standard Box Sizes (LxWxH):
(These appear in a pull-down menu on product screens)

This box is empty - I tried putting in none but got an error - so it is back to being blank

I have handeling fess disabled
I have free shipping disabled

this seems to easy for me to mess up so i MUST mbe missing something

AHHH Found It - see i told you I was a total newbie

2 of the products (15 total) had a conatainer selected under the product menu (I wss looking at the fedex box configuration not the product drop down)- and thost just HAPPEND to be 2 of the products selected
