Shop site changes other pages?

Postby RedSyntax » Mon Mar 09, 2009 10:24 am

I, well more specifically my client has a rather dynamic page that displays content. This page is not meant to be visible or even "apart" cart in any way. However page continually breaks in the same manor and I am having to replace it with the corrected new version of the page. it it possible that shopsite on publish replaces the current (correct) version of the page with the older(buggy) version?

I noticed on publish that the on screen log mentions the page and it concerns me as it should not be listed and nor should shopsite by any stretch of the imagination be replacing good solid code with old deprecated and really out dated code. I am only drawing this conclusion because A: the page which should not be listed is listed in the output logs and B: Because this anomaly seems only to occur around publish events. Is my reasoning wrong? could there be another cause?? :?:

Do you have a page (or moreinfo page) in ShopSite that has the filename of the page being modified?

Do you have the page set up under the "Custom Pages" feature under merchandising?

Either of those cases could cause the page to be modified on a publish.

I have seen this in real time.

OK! I have just seen this in realtime. Shopsite is replacing a current page with an older page, that's not even within "the system".

If it's not a product More Info Page, or one of the pages listed in the Pages menu, or one of the files listed in the Merchandising -> Custom Pages menu, then there is no way ShopSite is overwriting it on a Publish. You just need to figure out which one of these places you still have that page defined in ShopSite.

This is a big problem.

OK, I took that file out, weeks ago -- you were right about that part Loren. I have since noticed the phenomena still occurs. As this is content my clients pay for this is really starting to annoy me as a developer. I don't bring my backups with me everyday(Because of this I've corrected this file 30 times at least and after every page publish) I I have re-repairing the errors that were previously resolved and its really getting tiresome. Is there away to exclude pages from a publish?? Why is this Happening??

do you perhaps have some "Custom Pages" under Merchandising > Custom Pages?
