Awesome Blue Theme, Mini Cart, and Customer registration

Postby 2slice » Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:34 pm

We are using Shopsite 9 and used the Awesome Blue theme. On the store product pages the Mini Cart, Customer Registration and Sign Up do not appear on the left as they do in the samples pages.
I have made sure the Mini Cart and Registration is turned on in Shopsite and tested it on another domain on the server and on the tested site it shows the Mini Cart and Registration.
The store URL is http://www.diversityshop.com/store/index.html

Any idea why this would happen?

Probably caused by some bad html in the file somewhere. Try removing the the header content and see if it still happens. Then try removing the footer content. I notice a '>' just above the "DiversityShop - Secure Online Sales Since 2000" section at the bottom of the page which would indicate that there is a problem with opening/closing angle brackets in the code.

Removing the header and footer did not resolve the problem.

I saw a forum post yesterday that may be similar talking about problems if the store URL in hosting is not the store URL. http://www.diversityworld.com/diversityshop.htm is set for the "My Store" URL in the hosting section.

Am I off base in thinking this may be related?

I think this is related to characters included in some of your customized text settings in one of the Preferences -> Store Text menus that are also used in the MiniCart and Customer Registration javascript. For example, the text setting for 'Subtotal' which it looks like may have been customized as '<font face="Arial">Sub Total:' the doublequotes in this HTML may be breaking the JavaScript function that would normally display the MiniCart. Try removing the doublequotes in that text setting, or change them to single quotes, and then regenerate the store pages from Utilities -> Publish and see if that helps.

Note that this may not be the only setting with a problem, it is just the first one that my browser's JavaScript error console (in Firefox this is under Tools -> Error Console) found when I loaded a page from your site.

Thanks Loren and Jim, that was great help. The mini cart and the click to Register are showing up in the cart now. I'll have to remember that Firefox tool.
