Removing quotation marks during uploads

Postby gene » Fri Mar 20, 2009 3:23 am

I used the Extra Fields within Shopsite. I used this to input additional data for my website. I used HTML editor to encode the data. HTML editor have " (quotation marks) within its code. If I do uploads of my .txt file, I have to remove these quotation marks to avoid seeing it in the page. Is there any other upload procedure where the quotation marks in my HTML code cannot be removed?

ShopSite doesn't remove " marks (or any other text) during an upload. If there are quote marks entered into your document when you save it that weren't there when you created the document then you might try copying all of the document from what ever application you are creating it with and pasting it into Notepad or Wordpad and saving it as a text file from there.

I have this same problem. To get around it this is what I do. I create/update my products using Excel. Once completed I copy the entire file and paste it in Notepad and save it as a .txt file. I then close Notepad and upload the file to ShopSite. Excel puts the quotes in causing all sorts of weird things. Also, if I have a quote in my text such as for a description, I use " instead of the quote mark so it doesn't mess things up.
