Shipping Lightweight Item

Currently our shipping is configured with FedEx. This is fine for everything except items that weigh only a few ounces. It seems the lowest weight increment for FedEx is 1 pound which causes very light items to have excessive shipping costs. e.g. something 1 oz. costing $12.00 to ship whereas $5.00 would be the reasonable price. Is there any way to designate a seperate shipping cost to these lightweight items? Any ideas?
