REGENERATION freezes 20% of the way

Postby apolloweb » Thu Nov 13, 2008 7:13 am

Hi,

I just finished making changes to a bunch of products, two columns in particular ... QTY PRICING and Google product Type. There were about 3000 items.

I uploaded, everything went fine and when I went to PUBLISH, it just got stuck.

I tried to regenerate and it got stuck ... tried a couple more times and nothing.

I made no changes to templates and everything was working fine until this.

I also searched for this problem in these forums and noticed a couple of people have had the same problem and the solution for one person (which was unclick CUSTOM PAGES) that worked, didn't work for me.

Server is fine, templates are fine .... anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Unless the information in the Quantity Pricing field for each product is exactly correct you can experience problems with publishing. So check the product that the publish is failing on, and a few after it, and make sure there is no garbage in the Quantity Pricing field.

i see that it gets stuck in the same place ... do I do a search for that product and look at products after it in the file that I uploaded or do I download the products database and look by Product ID?

UPDATE: I just did both and everything seems normal as far as what's in the QTY PRICING field.

Anywhere else I should check?

Thanks for your help!

regeneration on QTY pricing question ....

Postby apolloweb » Thu Nov 13, 2008 8:05 am

I have partially fixed it ..... I had two different types of COMMENTS in the Qty Pricing Comments field .... I took out the one that was new ... I left it blank, reuploaded the entire 3000 products, hit publish and it worked ...

so is there a limit to what you can put in the comments field OR maybe characters you can't put in there??

Because I was going to make that a link, I actually tested one and it worked.

THE GOOD TEXT
20% Case Discount Every Day

THE BAD TEXT
20% Case Disc. Mix & Match

Thanks.

It may have been the "&" character. I'm not sure how that is handled and in some cases it is used as a parameter separator in URL etc so I would suspect it.

REGENERATION freeze - FOUND THE ERROR

Postby apolloweb » Thu Nov 13, 2008 8:39 am

this is for future reference or if it can help someone else with the same issue.

It was not the "&" in the comments field.

The Publish was in fact getting stuck in the same place but it seems Shopsite gets ahead of itself and actually has done many, many pages after the one it's showing you .... all of the pages that didn't seem to generate actually were generated ....

when I went to the bottom of my database (product upload), two of my products sell for $1,300 ... THE COMMA DID IT .... i took out the commas, reuploaded and everything published fine.

FYI.

Thanks Jim.
