putting cross-sell products on PRODUCT pages -Any Trick?

I want my "more info" pages to just have larger photos and color options. I'd like to be able to put the "Cross sell" items on the Product pages.

For my product templates I am setting each category of products up with separate template that his little photos and the product name and price to the left (I was going to hard code these in) and then each time someone clicks on one of those products, it goes to a page that looks exactly like the previous (with the same products on the left), but with a larger featured product on the right. Each of these pages will then technically be product pages, but will have a featured product on the right. This will work. My problem is that I would then like to have a, "you may also like..." column on the right for the cross-sells there.

But the code for shop site is set up to put the cross sells on the "More info" pages. I've tried pasting that code into the area where I want them on the product pages, but it doesn't work.

Any way to edit the code so that it goes on the product pages?

I believe the cross-sell is only allowed on the product more information pages.
