Re-sized images and Permission problem.

Postby artattack » Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:49 am

Hi.

I have an odd little problem with v9.02

When I upload a single image through shopsite and select the re-size at the same time Shopsite uploads the original image and creates 3 folders.

ss_size1
ss_size2
ss_size3

We are not using the ss_size3 folder this remains empty.

The original image permissions are fine

The ss_size1 image permissions are fine.

BUT the image that goes in the ss_size2 folder, the permission has been set so it cannot be read by "world"

If I manually ftp the image into the same folder then it is fine.

I cannot think what the problem is.

OK, I may have got to the bottom of this.

It would seem that if you create an image for the ss-size2 folder that is larger than the original, it does no save it with the correct permissions.

It will not display on a webpage, you just get the red X

My original image was 380 x 255.

I set the medium image to max 383 x 383 and Shopsite puts it in the ss-size2 folder with incorrect permission.

If I set it to a size smaller than the original 250 x 250 Shopsite puts in the ss-size2 folder with the permissions set correctly.

I would love to hear a comment just to confirm that I am correct.

I have the same issue, except of course mine is with image ss_size1 (that's the one that ends up being bigger than the original sometimes)

It appears this problem occurs exactly as stated in the above posts.

Problem:
-Permissions are set to 640 for resized images with dimensions LARGER than the original image
-Permissions are set to 644 (correct permissions) for resized images with dimensions SMALLER than the original image

This is a MAJOR concern, as images get a permission error and DO NOT SHOW. I'm assuming it may be some sort of BUG in the code.

Any news on this?
I'm actually working with ver 8.3 PRO

Thanks,
Matt

I have verified that if the uploaded image is smaller than the resize image dimension that the permissions do get set to 640 and if the uploaded image is larger than the resize image dimension then the permissions get set to 644.

I have logged this to have an engineer look at the issue for a future ShopSite release.

This should be fixed in the next major release (i.e. not just a patch release) of ShopSite.

Glad to hear this is fixed in 10 - I have several thousand images for a store not yet live but hope to be in a week. Would love to have 10 and save going though 100 image dir and changing permissions.
