Shipping not Calculated for 2 Items Added to Shopping Cart?

Postby shaoen01 » Fri Sep 26, 2008 5:22 am

Hi,

I tried adding 2 quantities of the same item, but the shipping does not show. However, the shipping costs does show if i only one quantity of that product. I did not check the Free Shipping option, so i don't see why is this so?

And is there anyway upon clicking on the radio buttons of shipping options available when viewing shopping cart, the shipping costs will get updated instead of having to click on the recalculate button? Thanks

There is no built in way to have the shipping updated except when the zip code is changed or you click the recalculate button. It might be possible using javascript to force a change when something else changes on the screen but that is not build in.

If i want to use javascript to force the update, where and how do i do it? Any suggestions?

Also, do you know why when i add 2 quantities for this product, http://x-men-paradise.just-marvel-x-men ... uscle.html, it will not display a shipping costs. But if i change the quantity to 1 or other number it works fine. Any idea why it won't work for 2? I can't seem to figure it out. Other products' shipping costs generated are fine when i try to add 2 quantities.

You would need to have a Pro level store inorder to add the javascript in the proper place. Manager stores do not have the field that is necessary.

As for the shipping cost, you are using the ShopSite shipping methods.
I see no charge for US shipping even with one item in the cart, I do see Canada and Asia/Europe rates though.
Make sure that your shipping option settings are all inclusive for the values that might be returned from the cart. For example if you are shipping by currency then you need to have the rates configured as
0.00- 9.999
10.00-59.999
60.00-99.999 etc
due to rounding errors inherent in computers it is possible that 2 items could be added together and come to a total of say 9.991 and if your range was from 0.00-9.99 and 10.00- 59.99 the items would fall between the two ranges and no shipping would be charged.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply! That could be the reason, but i guess i would just put a message to let my customer to click on the recalculate button before checking out as i might not want to upgrade it now. Thanks
