Accepting Checks

We would like to start accepting hard checks. We are using the latest version of shopsite professional. Two problems that we are running into that I hope someone has the solution to:

1. Many of our products are downloadable and we do not want to provide the file to the client until we actually receive a check - how do we turn off the link just for checks

2. I have tried several different options to just have a message show up if someone selects Check as the payment method that would allow us just to tell them how to make the check out and where to send it. Most of the options I tried worked but they all had a text box looking for information from the customer. How do I just give them a message without the text box

There is no way to turn off the download link just for someone using a check, so if you are going to accept checks then you should turn off the download links on the thankyou screen and the receipt and send the links manually.

You might be able to get rid of the check input box using a style sheet. On my store I just asked them to enter the check number they will be sending in the box.

Note that if you use the Authorize.net payment gateway they have an echeck option that will do real-time check payments. This would allow you to use the diigital download links on the receipts.
