Paypal Website Payments Pro Not Processing Cards

Postby rippyj » Thu Aug 14, 2008 3:13 pm

I have followed the steps here:

http://www.shopsite.com/help/9.0/en-US/ ... alpro.html

Yet I am receiving a payment processing error code 10501, Invalid Merchant config.

I have the correct API username and password entered in to the Configure Website Payments Pro section and I copy/pasted the entire API certificate from Paypal. The Host is set to Live and not sandbox. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I can't tell if this is a ShopSite config issues or a PayPal issue...

Any ideas?

What PayPal Pro method(s) are you using in ShopSite?

If you enabled the PayPal Website Payments Pro method down in the Processor section of Commerce Setup -> Payment, this is a method that you must first apply for in your PayPal account. You can't use this method until PayPal approves you.

Express Checkout and Website Payments Standard are PayPal methods that pretty much any merchant with a PayPal Business account can use.

I am using Website Payments Pro and we have been approved and verified. I am able to process credit cards via PayPal's Virtual Terminal at the moment, but not through my website.

Make sure you have copied the certificate exactly as it was given to you, no extra blank spaces, tabs or lines before or after it.

I have copied the certificate exactly as it opened in notepad. I have even tried removing some of the tab characters that are included in it, when I do that though, I receive a SOAP error.

I suggest that you work with your ISP to get this resolved. If they are a ShopSite partner then they can escalate it to the ShopSite support staff if they need help. If your store isn't hosted at a ShopSite partner you can purchase a support incident or annual supoort at
http://shopsite.com/support_pricing.html

In either case you will need to provide the support personnel with access to both your ShopSite store and your PayPal account so I would recommend that you recheck everything just to make sure you can't get it working yourself.

Jim & Loren,

Thanks for your help. After more or less spending 5 hours on hold I finally got through with someone at PayPal. Apparently the problem was on their end and they didn't "toggle on" the Direct API feature of our account.

Feel free to delete this thread no unless you think it will benefit people in the future.

Thanks again,

John
