Rules for when shopsite should process a credit card

Postby extragear » Fri Jul 11, 2008 5:40 am

Greetings:

Can Shopsite be configure to authorize and capture orders based on a criteria.

For example, lets say in the Shopsite products database we use the Quantity on Hand field and its populated. Can a rule be created that would say, if that field is greater than 1, allow the authorize and capture to occur?

Or read another field (In addition) for example a custom made field or fields (perhaps a field that shows the number of units available in a suppliers warehouse)?

If the fields are less than one, shopsite would not send the info along to Authorize.net, and we would have to import the order and look it over, get the item from a supplier and then charge the card.

I read through the setup documents and only see a global setting for how cards are charged. If Shopsite doesnt support this could, in theory it be modified by custom programming to do this?

Thanks
Tim

If you have a ShopSite Pro level store you can enable inventory tracking that will allow you to set quantity on hand, low stock limit and out of stock limit for products. If a product reaches the out of stock limit then the shopper will not be allowed to check out with that product in the cart. The out of stock limit could be a negative number to account for instances where you can get more product than what you have on hand from a supplier in a short period of time.

There is no correlation with what products are in the cart and the payment processing system. Only the total amount of the order is sent to the payment gateway not a quantity of products. Other fields like you mention that might contain a quantity available at a supplier could not be used since only the total amount of the order is sent.

Thanks for the reply. We do have the pro level store and I just read the help document on it.

Lets say you added custom field to the products database that represent our suppliers available inventory. Is there any way to get Shopsite to include the unit count in this field as part of the in stock units?

If not, I would guess we could just add it (The number of units the supplier had) to the total units on hand.

Thanks

You would have to add suppliers quantity to the quantity in your store manually. There is no way to use a custom field to do that.
