I a little help with variations and searching

Ok , so on my website I am going to sell shoes,

is there a way to keep track on the amount of inventory for each variation for the main product, for example I have an Ecco Track boot
in colors black and brown and all sizes could I track how many ecco track black in size 10 I have in inventory and not have seperate inventory products but as a subproduct or variation ? Is this built in on shopsite or is it available from third party software , this is so necessary for me .


also how do I search for each variation color or size , how do I set that up . is it even possible or anyone have a third party add on script i can use ?
