Post Order Email based upon Product Ordered

Postby Sue G » Mon May 19, 2008 2:44 pm

Hello,

I'm evaluating shopsite for a business customer and they have a requirement to be able to send a post-order email out based upon a product ordered. i.e.: Send an email to all customers who have ordered product "xyz". I've been searching and can't find a solution.

Thanks for the help,
Sue

ShopSite Pro level has an "Order API" feature which passes all parameters from the order to a third party program. Using this method you would write an application that accepts the output from the order and do what ever processing you need to send the appropriate email. Details on the Order API can be found in the help at:

Thanks for the reply Jim.

I'm not a CGI person, does anyone have a little CGI snippet that pulls a few order values using the order API?

Thanks much,
Sue

A sample program that reads the variables and displays them to the screen is included with the ShopSite install files. It is called custom-dump.pl and is written in perl. There is another executable, customdump.cgi that was written in C that does the same thing. (source isn't provided for that one) It really doesn't matter what language the program is written in as long as it follows the api specification from the help.
