Applying handling charges to specific products in zipcodes

Greetings:

We use one of the simpler shipping configurations for Shopsite. That is shipping charges are based on the amount of the order with orders over $100 shipping for free.

The problem is, some of the items we have are large. There are about 20 of these out of 1000 products. As we all know, UPS really kills you on these large items the farther the shipping destination. (We are in NY state) Once these items are shipped West of the Mississippi the UPS rates are quite large.

So, I was wondering if there is a way to assess a surcharge per item and have it apply on some geographic perimeter such as zip code. I already know how to assess a per item handling charge but that would be nationwide.

There is no built in way to do this but you might be able to do it with a custom shipping api. You (or someone you pay to do it ) would need to create that script. This requires the Pro level of ShopSite. You can find documentation on it at http://shopsite.com/help/9.0/en-US/sc/p ... g.api.html
