Tracking sales to search results across multiple domains

Postby davidroth » Thu Feb 28, 2008 2:29 pm

Ok, I use google analytics with shopsite and it works great. But, the problem i'm having is that I have a 'main site' with another host and the shopping cart is installed on the subdomain with lexiconn. So when they click the 'add to cart' or 'view cart' buttons, it logs it as a referral from my main site. So where I SHOULD be able to see that a purchase came from a given search result, all I can see is that its a referral from my own site.

I've read google's documentation on this and I can't seem to get it rihgt. For one it says you need to add

_uacct="UA-123456"
_udn="mystore.com";

into your code. When I do that using the shopsite wizard, it leaves the mystore.com out of the code.

Anybody help me out here or point me in the direction of a seasoned programmer that could do this for me???

I'm using 9.02 or something...the newest one i think. I was told by lexiconn that it was because I was being transferred to their shared SSL certificate so google analytics saw it as a new domain and didn't follow it all the way through. I bought my own so we'll see if that solves the issue.
