more info custom templates

Postby tulipgraphics » Tue Feb 26, 2008 7:01 am

Dear Shopsite experts,
I have made my first shopsite manager shop www.aloe-formula.com
I copied the clean page template, took all tags, made new template with my own design. I am verry happy how the page template looks, I think I have all I need there.
When I try to do the same for product template, more info page template, search and shopping cart template I crashed.
So I used pre-installed templates, with totaly diffrent design as my page template. When I tried to mess with them I got stuck when I hit the publish button.

Is there somewhere a more info template with only the needed tags without any design tags ?
Same for product and shopping cart and search template ?
if there a a list of tags only for each template then I will be able to add my own design to it.
My goal is to create a template for one site only, where all graphc design is static, the dynamic part will be the links to pages, products off course, page name and page title , 3 text areas (where I can put also html), meta tags keyword and meta tag description.

Any help in custom templates and how the more info template works will be great.

is written Custom template cookbook coming soon.
Is there a cookbook ?

Thanks
Amit

Hi. I found all the custom template examples very helpful. For example, here is the link to the examples for custom product templates.

http://www.shopsite.com/templates/examp ... ption.html

In the box in the top right are links to various types of examples. I basically used my own HTML design, then stuck in the needed loops/tags etc from looking at these examples. I also made a copy of the template that was closest, and kept referring to that, pulling out the code that I needed (I found it helpful to cut and paste the shopsite template code into an html document so I could view it in my html editor). I made copies of the include files used by the template too, including css - so I could refer to those and pull out what I needed. I think it helps also to display the page using the ShopSite template, then do a view source, to understand what it's actually doing.

As far as a list of tags for each template, there are links to those here:
http://shopsite.com/help/9.0/en-US/sc/p ... start.html

There really is a lot of information out there - between the help files and all the posts on this forum. I still don't have my site live yet, but hope to get there in the next couple of weeks.

Good luck. Your site looks really nice.
