Problems with RegistrationSignIn tag

I am having an annoying issue with the RegistrationSignIn tag. When someone registers or signs in, it doesn't update the link with their name, the ability to sign out or to allow them to view their account until after the user adds something to their cart.

I am using ShopSite Pro 8.3 with the Awesome Blue template. The only things that I have changed with it, aside from cosmetic ones was that I removed the entry linking to the core_001_pa_customer_registration.js and replaced it with the RegistrationSignIn tag because that js file was doing the same thing. I thought the RegistrationSignIn tag would help, but it didn't...

Any help or insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

The cookie for customer registration is set by the order.cgi. The customer needs to go to the cart in order for the cookie to be set. If you add navigation links to your customer registration pages which go to your store pages and not to the shopping cart it allows your customer to continue shopping without having the customer registration cookie being set. When a customer does add a product to the cart and is taken to the order.cgi the cookie is then set. This is why your customer registration links are not reflecting the fact that the customer is logged in until they go to the shopping cart. I would suggest removing your store navigation from the customer registration pages except the 'continue shopping', 'back to cart' or 'view cart' links.
