In which language are ShopSite add-ons programmed?

Postby ahsenabro » Tue Jan 15, 2008 2:14 pm

I am not a programmer and have no plans to develop ShopSite add-ons myself but it helps to know the language in which ShopSite add-ons are made or in which custom programming is done. It helps in instructing the developers.

If you are hosted on a Linux/Unix/FreeBSD server, then the most common add-on module languages are php and perl. Javascript/Ajax scripts are also often used to interface with the web pages / cart pages.

Thanks Rob.

Just to be clear, ShopSite is based on CGI but its modules are made in PHP/Perl?

The ShopSite software is compiled C code. Any modules written for ShopSite to interact with it (i.e. shipping API, order API, Ajax, etc...) can be written in any server side language. The common ones are PHP and Perl, but it could be Ruby on Rails, a shell script, C, etc...

That was helpful Rob.

Does Lexiconn use PHP for developing its modules?

I do not see any custom development service for Shopsite on Lexiconn site, what is the best place for custom design and development (or custom add-ons) for ShopSite?

We do not do any in-depth programming these days. We do develop add-on modules for ShopSite that we feel will benefit a large number of users, but do not get involved in any custom programming.

Contact us via email and we can send you a few references.

YourHost.com can help you develop PHP modules. You can contact Brandon, brandon@yourhost.com or Eric, eric@yourhost.com, or call (714) 842-8511 and talk to one of them about pricing.
