Query failed: database disk image is malformed(11)

Postby royhink » Fri Nov 16, 2007 1:28 pm

I am getting this error when I try to update my product description files. I saw some one with a similar issue last year, but there was no response.

Any one ever have this issue?

Try going to Utilities -> Database and use the Compact function and see if this message is resolved after this.

This is alarming.

When I went to back up the db before compacting, I get an error saying the db is bad, and cannot be backed up.

When I click on the 'bad' link, I get this report:

File name: D:\Program Files\ShopSite\data\worldtradepress\shopsite_db
FAILED Integrity Check
*** in database main ***
Main freelist: freelist leaf count too big on page 14486
Main freelist: freelist leaf count too big on page 20858
Main freelist: 4 of 8 pages missing from overflow list starting at 14486
On tree page 825 cell 1: 2nd reference to page 14486
Page 9953 is never used
Page 9954 is never used
Page 14390 is never used
Page 20178 is never used
Page 20181 is never used
Page 20183 is never used
Page 20650 is never used
Page 20651 is never used
Page 20652 is never used

Is this a database issue, solved by restoring, or hardware?

Most likely a database issue. On the server at command level do a backup (copy) of the shopsite_db file in the store's data directory. Then do the compact in the backoffice of your store under Utilities > Database. Most often that fixes the issue.

That seemed to solve the issue, Thanks.

Looks like it was a corrupted db, which is much less alarming than 'disk image malformed' !!

Who comes up with these error messages? (Rhetorical, no answer really wanted)

It does bring up the issue of backing up the db on a regular basis. Is there a way to automatically do a backup? How about an auto product/page download utility?
