Creating a folder path for downloads

Postby zzz » Mon Sep 10, 2007 9:20 pm

I am using Shopsite Pro 8 (the latest version) and have been trying to create a folder path for downloads. Right now, there is a "downloads" folder in htdocs/store/data on powweb.com with zip files. Shopsite says that my store is on powweb.com.

In the Shopsite "Add a Product" area, the "Product Download Location" does not recognize the path that I type in and says it does not exist. When I click Select, a popup window appears and displays "Downloads" folder with nothing in it. Wherever I move MY Downloads folder to, Shopsite does not recognize it.

When I try to upload a zip file from my computer in the Shopsite area (I can easily ftp the files to my account on powweb.com), it goes through the motions and then says "Permission denied".

Can someone help me please???

Thank you in advanced.

You can't just specify any 'downloads' directory, you have to place your files within the 'downloads' directory that is inside the ShopSite Data Directory. If your host doesn't allow you access via FTP to this directory, then the only way for you to get files there is to upload them through the ShopSite backoffice in the Commerce Setup -> Digital Download -> Upload a File function. If this results in a 'Permission denied' error for you, then you should contact your host and ask them to change the permissions on the 'download' directory within your ShopSite Data Directory so that you don't get this error.
