includes: please help me

Hello,

I am a new user to shopsite and need your help. trying to make a change on the op banner for my cart. from the code i can see it

[-- INCLUDE top_nav --]

i can see the name is top_nav. i found the file located in the tempaltes/indludes directory and downloaded it , made changes and uploaded in ascii format to the same loc.

ran the regerate from the admin area. but i cannot view the cahnge. do i need to do anything else.

If you used ftp to put the file on the server you need to make sure that you gave it correct permissions. The best way for a beginner to put files into the template area is to use the ShopSite provided interface which will give the file the correct permissions.

Are you sure that the pages you are looking at are using the template that uses that Include file?

Did you do a Utilities > Publish > Regenerate or did you click the Publish tab on the Navbar? The first one should regenerate all pages the second will only generate pages that have been modified.

Did you make sure you spelled the include filename correctly? (not to be critical but there were several typos in your message and a typo in a filename would cause it to not work)

Some browsers cache pages that have been previously loaded. Did you close your browser and start it again to see if the page was cached.
