Configuring Reports

Postby hiamps » Sat Jul 21, 2007 2:19 pm

When I check my reports in shopsite it always shows 0 for Hits, pages and hosts. How do I set them up to work?

Help!!! I am in the same boat! My sales are working fine. I bought an item from my store to test my credit card processing and the sales data showed up fine in the sales side of the reports. But the hits etc. were all ZERO! And I know there had to be at least one hit. Mine? Plus my Yahoo & Google advertising campaigns are give me stats as to how many people clicked into my site and I would assume those clicks should show up as hits?

Sales reports are kept by ShopSite at the time of the sale. Hit, hosts etc come from the webserver log. So you probably don't have your webserver log information configured.

Here is a link to the help for how to configure that part of the reports. http://shopsite.com/help/8.3/en-US/sc/p ... onfig.html

You will need to know the path to the webserver log and the file name. You will have to get this information from the server admin where your store is hosted. (I believe most hosts would give you the information to get at the logs if not you may want to change hosts.)

Note that on all ShopSite backoffice screens there is a red ?. Clicking on it will bring up help for that particular page.

You'll get that a lot if you rotate your logs too frequently. I see that on a lot of our stores, and the logs rotate daily (because the stats program keeps the stats).

ShopSite stats are pretty useless anyway, for any real analytics. Check out Google Analytics (www.google.com/analytics) or use AWStats or another good stats program provided by your host.

I vote for Analytics though, the conversion tracking and other features are amazing and it's free.
