Adding Email Marketing to Site-Advice?

I wish to add an autoresponder to our site and would love some feedback or advice from anyone who has gone thru this, and any shopsite issues I should know about.

We are looking to do a few fairly simple things:
- add several autoresponders that will collect email addresses and respond with an email message that has a pdf attachment.
- Have a field on the checkout page that lets them sign up for our newsletter
- collect email address from a 'Download our catalog' page

I'm currently looking at ConstantContact and IContact.

Any pearls of wisdom would be appreciated!
